Lucknow: Fire breaks out at scrap market, no casualties

LUCKNOW: A massive fire broke out at a scrap market in Madiaon area of Lucknow on late on Sunday. However, no casualties were reported in the incident.
The fire was reported from the market located next to Keshav Nagar police outpost.
The blaze rapidly spread across to area of 20,000 square feet engulfing heaps of waste material lying in the open. A truck parked in the market also gutted in the fire, police said.
“We received a call about the fire at around 12.30am. 20 fire-tenders were pressed into service," said chief fire officer Vijay Kumar Singh.
Singh said no one was injured in the fire as it took place in an open space that was away from the residential area.
Singh said that prima facie it appears that a short circuit in one of the open shops caused the fire.
Trans-Gomti SP Amit Kumar said that fire was doused and a probe in this regard is being ordered.
