Fire at sweet-making unit leaves 3 injured

SHAHJAHANPUR: A fire broke out in a sweet-manufacturing unit in Katra area of Shahjahanpur leaving at least three persons injured and gutting materials which owners claimed was more than a lakh rupees. Two motorcycles and a tractor were also damaged in the blaze on Friday midnight.
Several fire engines were pressed into service to douse the flames which were tamed by Saturday morning, but not before gutting the entire unit.
According to police, the fire broke out at ‘Petha’ factory. The owner, Shivlal, his son Pappu and grandson Dharmendra tried to control the blaze but sustained burn injuries in the process. Dharmendra received 20% burn injuries and was admitted at a private hospital in Bareilly
Shivlal told TOI, “We had no clue how the fire broke out. But everything is lost now. My grandson is also injured. I don’t know that how would we overcome from this loss.”
Another incident of fire was reported from Shahjahanpur district on Saturday in which six huts were completely gutted. Two buffaloes died in the blaze.
