Major fire breaks out at fabric unit in Ambala
Updated: 2019–11–27
AMBALA: A major fire broke out at a fabric industrial unit near Mohra village in Ambala Cantonment along the National Highway (NH) 44-A on Tuesday. The entire unit has been gutted.
On receiving information, the administration rushed emergency services to spot from Ambala and nearby districts. Firemen got into service to douse the flames.
No one has been reported to have been injured in the incident.
Officials of the industrial unit are suspecting that the fire incident took place due to an electric short circuit.
The district administration officials said after receiving information, fire tenders were immediately pumped into action.
Ambala superintendent of police (SP) Abhishek Jorwal and Ambala deputy commissioner (DC) Ashok Kumar Sharma reached the spot for inspecting the emergency operations.
Ambala Cantonment MLA and Haryana home minister Anil Vij also visited the spot.
Sources said the fire took place in a fabric and oil industrial unit of Partap Factories. There were hardly any fire safety measures adopted by the factory.
Meanwhile, a police officer heading towards the fire spot and a resident got injured after their vehicles collided on the highway. They were rushed to the Ambala Cantonment civil hospital.
“We have deployed fire brigades from both the stations in Ambala City and Cantonment. Some vehicles have also been called from the nearby stations. It will take time to douse flames,” said Amar Singh, fire officer, Ambala.
“Emergency services are going on and firemen are working to douse the flames. The fabric unit has been gutted as the produced cloth was stored in large quantity which increased the intensity of fire,” said Ambala SP Jorwal.
“Nobody has been injured in the incident and the situation is under control. One of our police officers and a resident have been injured as they collided with each other when the officer was on his way to the fire spot,” he added.
