At least 20 houses were razed in a fire believed caused by a gas lamp that was knocked over in a residential area in Pasay City before midnight Monday.
No one was initially reported killed or injured in the fire at the Malanday area in Pasay City, radio dzBB reported early Tuesday.
Pasay City firefighters were quoted in the report as saying the fire started at 11:13 p.m., and reached the third alarm before it was eventually put out at 1:33 a.m.
Arson investigators are verifying information the fire stemmed from a gas lamp that was left unattended and knocked over.
But a separate report by dzBB’s Sam Nielsen said arson investigators are also looking into information an electrical short circuit sparked the fire.
Some 40 families affected by the fire spent the night at an evacuation center at the Malibay Plaza. –KG, GMA News
