Medical equipment factory gutted in IMT Manesar area

GURGAON: A massive fire broke out in a medical equipment factory in Sector 5, IMT Manesar, on Sunday. However, no one was injured in the incident. More than 22 fire-tenders from Sector 29, Sector 37 and Bheem Nagar fire stations were pressed into service and efforts were on to douse the flames till late evening. The reason behind the fire could not be ascertained.
According to the fire officials, the blaze in the two-storey factory building of Life Long Meditec Ltd on plot number 23 in Sector 5 IMT Manesar started around 5.30pm and spread rapidly. When some company employees saw smoke billowing out of the building, they informed the fire officials. A fire-fighting team led by fire officer Isham Singh Kashyap reached the factory around 6pm.
Soon, a hydraulic platform also reached. The fire had spread to the second floor of the factory by then and flames kept coming out till 8pm.
The fire tenders from the nearby factories also joined the rescue efforts. All the employees came out of the building safely. The company officials fear massive damage to the factory because of the fire.
“More than 22 fire tenders from various stations have been pressed into service. We have doused the fire around the factory premises and efforts are on to control the remaining flames,” said Kashyap.
