Thane: Major fire breaks out at chemical plant in Dombivli

THANE: A major fire broke out at Metropolitan Eximchem Private Limited company at Dombivli, MIDC in Thane on Tuesday afternoon.
No loss of life has been reported so far and five fire tenders have been rushed to the site to douse the flames, a fire department official said.
The fire official said the blaze started around 12.45pm in the Metropolitan Exchimchem Ltd plant situated in phase 2 of Dombivli MIDC.
Thick black smoke from the fire has engulfed surrounding area of the plant.
The exact casue of the fire is yet to be ascertained, fire brigade sources said.
Police have appealed to locals residing in 500-meter radius from the unit to shift temporarily to some safe place saying the fire is major and it could be risky.
