UPDATE – FIRE INCIDENT AT GAS PROCESSING PLANT COMPLEX A IN KERTEH

KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 (Bernama) — PETRONAS Gas Berhad (PGB) wishes to update on the fire incident which occurred yesterday at about 3pm at a gas processing plant (GPP) within its GPP Complex A in Kerteh, Terengganu.
The fire was brought under control by emergency services team at 3.30pm yesterday.
The incident happened at GPP 3 which is undergoing planned maintenance shutdown. The operation of the other GPP units within both Complex A and Complex B has not been affected. There is no interruption to the gas supply to the Peninsular Gas Utilisation (PGU) pipeline network.
PGB however regrets to inform that a number of personnel of Hyundai-PFCE Consortium (HPC) which is the contractor engaged to undertake maintenance works at GPP 3, were affected by the incident.
One fatality was confirmed yesterday while two other personnel are still hospitalised.
The deceased has been identified as Encik Rosli Mansor, 31. The two personnel still warded are Encik Mohd Fithri Mat Noor, 27 (Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah Kuala Terengganu); and Encik Khairul Amir Mohd Sidi, 20 (Hospital Dungun).
Other affected personnel had received outpatient treatment from Kerteh Integrated Petrochemical Complex (KIPC) Clinic and HPC Clinic.
