Fire engulfs EDM Club in downtown Phnom Penh

A fire broke out at the EDM club in in Chamkarmon district’s Tonle Bassac commune on Sunday. Hean Rangsey
The EDM club, a nightclub in central Phnom Penh, was ablaze for about two hours from 4:20pm on Sunday.
Fire engines were dispatched to the scene in Chamkarmon district’s Tonle Bassac commune to extinguish the flames.
Tonle Bassac police chief Sal San Dos told The Post: “There were no injuries or any casualties as the site was closed. As of now, we are unsure of what caused the fire.”
Phnom Penh Fire and Rescue chief Prom Yorn told The Post that after about two hours, firemen had brought nearly the whole fire under control.
The government announced the closure of nightclubs in March as a measure to combat Covid-19 infections and prevent crowds in public places.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
