Pigs perish in Buri Ram fire

BURI RAM: A fire at a large piggery in Nang Rong district on Sunday night killed at least 100 pigs.
Pol Capt Samruay Obklang, a Nang Rong duty officer, said the fire started shortly before 10pm at a pig farm ownd by Taweesak Saparat beside the Chok Chai-Det Udom road near Ban Na Mai in tambon Hua Thanon.
About 10 fire engines from several municipalities and tambons responded.
When firefighters arrived, the main farm building, housing several hundred pigs, was already engulfed in flames.
It took them about two hours to control the blaze. Most of the building had burned down.
At least 100 pigs were found to have died in the fire. The others fled in panic and were still being rounded up.
The cause was being investigated and the full damage yet to be assessed.
