SURAT: Three people sustained critical injuries when a major fire broke out in a chemical company situated in the Panoli GIDC in Bharuch’s Ankleshwar in the early hours of Thursday.
Sources in the fire department of Panoli GIDC said that the incident occurred in Hemani chemical company located in Panoli GIDC at about 2.30am. The fire broke out after a major blast in the unit.
About five workers inside the factory sustained burns and three among them are said to be critical.
According to fire officials the injured were rushed to nearby hospital for treatment.
It took about three hours for the fire fighters to douse the fire.
A fire officer said, We have been able to douse the fire, but the smoke is still coming out of the factory. The entire factory has been gutted in the fire.
