A cargo vessel caught fire in the vicinity waters off Marikaban Island in Batangas on Monday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.
PCG spokesman Commodore Armand Balilo identified the vessel as M/V Moreta Venture. He said the PCG Command Center has received a distress call, relayed by BRP Tubbataha (MRRV 4001), at 4:53 a.m. about the maritime incident involving the said vessel.
All officers and crew onboard M/V Moreta Venture are all safe and accounted for, Balilo said.
He said BRP Boracay (FPB-2401) immediately responded and is now at the area to provide assistance.
Balilo added that a PCG helicopter would also provide assistance to the involved vessel.
Information from the PCG Southern Tagalog stated that fire out was declared at 8 a.m.
