Major fire at chemical company in Raigad, no casualty

NAVI MUMBAI: A major fire broke out at Sudarshan Chemical Company in Dhatav Industrial Estate of Dhatav MIDC in Roha of Raigad district around midnight on Thursday.
The fire followed by an explosion, caused panic in the locality as the inferno could be seen from a distance of about 2km. Fortunately, there was no casualty as the workers left the premises as the raging fire could not be controlled by their fire extinguishers. But, the end product manufactured by the company was destroyed in the fire causing huge monetary loss.
Four fire tenders and water tankers from the Roha civic body and MIDC fire brigade doused the fire after one hour of fire fighting operation.
Company’s project head Sanjay Shevde Informed informed that the fire broke out due to a short circuit at the company’s storage plant around 12.15am.
