PUNE: Bhosari MIDC police on Tuesday arrested a 31-year-old milk supplier on the charge of setting a 41-year-old security guard on fire when the latter objected to the man urinating near his employer’s luxury car.
The incident happened on the premises of a private company at Bhosari MIDC around 4.30pm on Tuesday. The victim Shankar Wayphalkar of Chinchwad sustained 20 percent burns. He is undergoing treatment in a hospital.
“We have arrested the suspect Mahendra Kadam of Balajinagar in Bhosari under the charges of attempt to murder. Kadam was produced before the court on Wednesday and has been remanded to police custody for five days,” senior inspector of the Bhosari MIDC police Shivaji Gaware told TOI.
Gaware said that Wayphalkar is working as the security guard at the private company in Bhosari MIDC. On Tuesday around 4.30pm, the suspect Kadam had come to the company for the delivery of milk. “Wayphalkar noticed that Kadam was urinating at the owner’s luxury car. When he objected Kadam, the latter started abusing him,”. Gaware said.
He said that the duo had heated arguments. Kadam threatened to kill Wayphalkar and went to his autorickshaw and picked up a can of petrol, which he had stored for an emergency. “Kadam poured the petrol on Wayphalkar and set him on fire,” Gaware said.
