Fire breaks out in scarp godown in Ludhiana

LUDHIANA: A major fire broke out in a scrap godown located in Peeru Banda area of Salem Tabri on Sunday. The reasons behind spreading of fire are yet to be known.
The fire fighters are at the spot and are trying to douse the flames, but due to dense smoke it became a tough task to control the situation. The area is congested and nearby houses were also put on alert as fire could spread there as well. Luckily, there was no casualty or injury to anyone in the incident.
The sub fire officer Aatish Rai said, “The entire area is known for scrap dealers and there was huge stock of scrap kept inside godown. The fire call came around 12.15pm and we rushed to the spot.” The officer said the situation is tense as it is very congested area and movement of fire tenders is also getting difficult.
Meanwhile, people gathered in large number at the spot as smoke was visible from a distance. The nearby residents were at their terrace to see what was happening in the scrap godown. The fire fighters were facing tough time in controlling the fire due to movement of people around. The lane behind the godown was more congested and people living in the houses in the lane kept the fingers crossed. The fire brigade is still at the spot to control the situation.
