Forest fire at Jaldapara reserve

Jalpaiguri: A fire broke out in a section of grassland in Jaldapara national park on Monday night. It spread around 70 metres into the grasslands at Mendabari beat. DFO (Jaldapara division) Kumar Vimal said it was a common incident and happens every year at this time of the year.
“It happens all across forestlands every year. This is quite natural,” he said.
Some social media users, though, shared fake pictures of a forest fire. On Tuesday, the region experienced rainfall, which helped contain the fire.
