Fire hits residential area in Pagadian City

Eighty houses were damaged when fire hit Purok Pagapat and Purok Riverside in Barangay Sta. Lucia in Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur early Saturday morning.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) officials said the fire began at 2:07 a.m. in the house of Luciana Daguman.
It quickly spread in the community since most of the houses were made of light materials.
Firemen had difficulty reaching the affected area due to narrow roads.
BFP personnel from nearby towns of Midsalip, Dinas, Lapuyan, Aurora and Dumingag helped in battling the fire.
The fire reached Task Force Charlie before fire out was declared at 4:35 a.m.
No one was hurt in the fire.
Residents tried to save what they could from their belongings, including the pigs some hog raisers had.
The damage to property is estimated to reach P2.5 million.
BFP is still investigating the fire incident. —BAP/KG, GMA News
