Goods worth lakh gutted in fire in Lucknow utensil store

LUCKNOW: A massive fire broke out in a utensil store located in Ghasmandi area of Thakurganj on Monday noon. No loss to human life was reported in the incident but goods worth lakhs were gutted.
This is the fifth fire incident in the heart of the city over the past week.
The incident occurred at Pankaj Kitchen Store around 3.30pm. A police team with four fire tenders reached the scene and contained the fire in 45 minutes.
CFO Vijay Kumar Singh said the fire was likely caused by short-circuit. He also said the police would verify if the shop owner had installed safety gadgets.
On reasons for a sudden spurt of fire incidents in the city, Singh said it was due to adjustments in the main line during summer.
