Noida fire tender can’t enter lane, man dies in blaze
Updated: 2019–05–15
NOIDA: A 45-year-old man died in a blaze after the fire brigade failed to enter the narrow lanes near his house that had been blocked by vehicles.
According to neighbours, Bobby Tyagi lived on the first floor of his house in Gejha village in Sector 93 while some tenants stayed on the ground floor.
“The fire started from Bobby’s room on the first floor around 10 pm. The fire brigade was informed but it could not enter as the lanes of the village are narrow,” said a neighbour.
While at least three vehicles of the fire brigade arrived at the spot, villagers took it upon themselves to douse the fire. The fire could be controlled only after the firemen brought hose pipes and started splashing water. By then, it was too late for Tyagi.
While Bobby’s room was completely gutted, another room also suffered damage.
air safety officer, Phase II, Ghanshyam said the lane was so narrow that they had to figure out how to get in. “The lane was extremely narrow. We had to later bring in three-four hosepipes and sprinkle water on the house to douse the fire,” he said.
Officials said they are trying to ascertain what caused the fire.
