Kanpur woman killed as bus hits bike, catches fire

KANPUR: A woman was burnt alive after the bike she was riding on caught fire on being hit by a bus at Chakarpur Mandi flyover in Sachendi area of the city on Thursday.
The deceased, identified as Baqreedan (60) of Gajner area of Kanpur Dehat was going to Kanpur on the bike with her son Chaand when a bus hit their vehicle.
Chaand cries for help as the bus dragged the bike and both the vehicles caught fire.
The bus had moved a few metres when the driver realized that it had caught fire. The driver fled from the spot. Later, passers by alerted the police control room and fire department.
A police team reached the spot and rushed Chaand to a nearby hospital while Baqreedan died on the spot.
A fire tender was pressed into action. It took half an hour to douse the fire.
