Updated: 2019–06–04
INDORE: After 19 hours of toil, fire fighters doused the blaze that broke out at a paper factory on Sanwer Road on Sunday morning.
The fire had broken out in Varat Industries causing panic among people in the vicinity. Fire brigade rushed to the spot to control the flames from spreading further in the area.
“The factory owner claimed that he had prepared a fresh consignment of 3000 rolls of hard paper for a recent order. The goods were stored in the factory when fire broke out,” fire fighter SI Santosh Dubey told TOI.
The firemen faced initial hurdles as the rolls were very heavy and difficult to shift. Earthmovers were pressed into service to remove some of them on Sunday. At 2:30pm, the fire was not visible, thus the action was suspended. But at 6.30am the owner again called up the fire brigade claiming that flames were rising out of the papers.
The firemen once again removed the ash-covered rolls and found that the fire was still engulfing paper below. Tankers were again deployed to douse the flames.
“As many as 40 tankers were used to gain control over the flames,” Dubey said.
