Indore: Godown destroyed in major fire
Updated: 2019–06–06
INDORE: A major fire broke out at a godown on Rangwasa road in Rau on Wednesday morning. The fire reportedly destroyed the material that was stored in the godown.
The blaze was triggered at 7:45am allegedly after short-circuit in the godown owned by Himanshu Agarwal. Since the godown contained jute and cloth material, the fire took no time in spreading in the entire area.
A fire tender rushed to the spot soon after the fire broke out. After a while, three more fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the blaze under control. The fire continued for a long time..
Locals claimed that the smoke could be seen billowing from a long distance. Smoke continued to billow till afternoon. The fire fighters were trying to contain the blaze in one particular area. They had also put a fire tender on standby till evening to avert any untoward incident.
The reason how the fire was triggered could not be ascertained. But prime facie it seems short-circuit caused the blaze, an official said.
The owner of the godown claimed that he had suffered huge loss.
