Gas leakage sparks fire at MNGL station in Bhosari

PIMPRI CHINCHWAD : A fire broke out at the district regulating station of the Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) at Bhosari on Saturday morning.
Supriyo Halder, the MNGL managing director, said while the company lost its internal equipment to the fire, there were no casualties.
A Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) fire official said, “The fire began at 6.45am due to a leakage in the inlet gas supply station located at MNGL’s district regulating station. Two fire engines from the Sant Tukaramnagar main fire station and one from Bhosari sub-office rushed to the spot after receiving the information.”
He said the fire was brought under control after the MNGL employees closed the inlet gas valve. The cooling operation was conducted for 15 to 20 minutes. “It was a minor incident. The fire was brought under control with the help of our fire and safety and maintenance teams as well as the fire brigade within 8 to 10 minutes,” Halder said. The MNGL has partly restored services to 6-7 industrial units. It is still working on full service restoration, he said.
