Nine women, two kids hurt in outer Delhi house fire
Updated: 2019–07–26
NEW DELHI: Nine women and two children were hospitalised with burn injuries in outer Delhi’s Nangloi on Thursday afternoon. The fire started due to a leakage in an LPG cylinder.
Chief fire officer Atul Garg said that the incident was reported to them at 12.46pm and three fire tenders were sent. The blaze was doused after an operation that lasted for over an hour.
The initial probe suggests that the fire started when a function was going on inside the house. The family had organised a puja and the cylinder was being brought down. It was already leaking and as soon as it was brought to the ground floor, it caused the fire, leaving the women and kids injured.
They were taken to a nearby hospital and later on, seven women were shifted to the burns ward of Safdarjung hospital for further treatment.
The firemen were able to contain the fire within the house, and the nearby buildings were evacuated. A team of forensic experts later visited the spot.
