Cab catches fire on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, narrow escape for two

DELHI: Two men had a narrow escape after the car in which they were travelling suddenly went up in flames on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road near Saket on Tuesday.
The driver, Mithilesh, told police that he is a driver-partner with an app-based cab company and was taking his passenger from Mehrauli to Badarpur. They were crossing Saket when smoke started coming out of the car. Mithilesh immediately asked his passenger to alight from the vehicle and jumped out. Soon, flames started coming out of the bonnet.
The fire department was informed, but the vehicle got charred by the time fire tenders arrived. Traffic remained disturbed on the stretch till the vehicle was removed.
