Ludhiana: Fire breaks out at Bajwa Nagar’s Trimurti Enterprises
Updated: 2019–08–07
LUDHIANA: A major fire incident was reported at the third floor of Trimurti Enterprises at Pritampura Sardar Nagar near Bajwa Nagar in Punjab’s Ludhiana district around 9.35am on Wednesday.
The fire brigade found it tough to control the situation due to thick smoke and lesser space for movement of fire tenders inside the unit.
The fire brigade had stationed over 12 fire tenders at the spot and these fire tenders had made over 60 rounds.
One of the workers at the spot said, “In the morning when labourers reached the site for work, there was no electricity and generator was switched on. During this process sparking happened and fire started from the third floor of the unit.”
He said in a few seconds, it became difficult to stand there due to dangerous smoke and out of fear a group of few labourers ran towards the terrace of the unit.
He said the labourers reached the terrace of adjoining factory and came out safely after which they called up the fire brigade.
The station fire officer SN Sharma said, “Initially due to intense heat and smoke firemen could not enter the building and it was advisable to spill water from outside the unit. Gradually, when fire came under control at one part, we sent the firemen in groups.”
He said the unit is spread in large area, but fire remained at the third floor of the building only and it did not spread anywhere else. He claimed that fire was under control, but it will take time to wind up the operation as smoke was still there.
