Noida: Fire breaks out in private play school’s basement; controlled after 3 hours

NOIDA: A major fire broke out in the basement of Mother’s Pride School at Sector 61 in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida on Tuesday afternoon.
At least six fire tenders reached the spot after the fire department received information about the fire and took around three hours to douse the blaze.
Fortunately, the incident happened after school hours and no injury was reported to anyone.
Fire safety officer, Sector 58, Kunwar Singh said that the fire broke out in the playschool located in the three-floor building of C block of Sector 61.
“There was a room in the basement where copies, books, toys and other stuff was kept. Around 2:45pm, the room in the basement caught fire and some of the school staff tried to douse the fire using fire extinguishers,” he said.
The staff informed the fire department and by the time, the fire tenders arrived at the spot, there was smoke all around in the basement, causing difficulty in entering the basement.
Singh said that since the basement was full of smoke, the fire officials had to enter the basement after breaking the windows.
“The fire was completely doused by a team of 30 fire officials by 6:30pm,” he said.
