Updated: 2019–08–17
NEW DELHI: A major fire broke out at a farmhouse near Ghitorni in south Delhi on Friday evening. Fire officers said that the farmhouse was being used to store drums of oil due to which the fire spread rapidly. Cops are inquiring whether the owner had a permission to store the amount of motor-oil or use the building as a warehouse.
The firemen have deployed about 18 fire tenders to douse the flames. Fire officers say that no casualties were reported till late evening.
Chief fire officer, Atul Garg, said that they had recieved a call about the fire around 6.50pm after which four fire tenders were initially sent to the scene. However, when the fire grew further more fire-engines were pressed into the service.
Fire officials say that the nearby farmhouses in the area were evacuated due to the smoke from the warehouse. The owner and the security guards are being questioned to find out the source from where the oil was procured.
