Lake Avenue building fire sparks panic

KOLKATA: A fire at an eight-storied residential building on Lake Avenue sparked panic on Wednesday. The fire was doused within 15 minutes and no injury was reported. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
Locals said the fire broke out around 11am in a flat on the seventh floor. Residents of the building immediately rushed out and tried to douse the blaze themselves before the firefighters arrived. Four fire tenders were soon rushed to the spot.
The flat where the fire broke out was locked and nobody was inside. Neighbours said the flat belonged to a 50-year-old businessman who last visited the apartment around two months ago.
