Updated: 2019–11–14
MOHALI: Three buses of Shaheed Udham Singh College in Tangori caught fire under mysterious circumstances at its parking lot on the campus on Sunday night.
In a letter to the police officials, the college authorities said around 9.30pm, a few students raised the alarm on noticing a bus on fire. “There were 16 more buses parked in the area. We, along with students and residents of a nearby village, tried to douse the flames. But the fire soon spread and engulfed two more buses. Another bus was partially damaged.”
The college authorities then called up the fire department. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the situation was brought under control within 15 minutes.
A case under sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage to the amount of one hundred) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Sohana police station.
On the night of November 7, miscreants had allegedly set a BMW car on fire in Sector 110, Mohali.
