Fire at Narela factories with no NOC
Updated: 2019–12–25
NEW DELHI: A major fire broke out at a shoe factory in Narela Industrial Area on Tuesday morning. Due to the fire, a cylinder blast occurred and the fire spread to the adjacent factory as well. The fire department stated that both the factories did not have a No Objection Certificate (NOC). No loss of life was reported.
According to the fire department, a call was received around 4am on Tuesday about a fire at the shoe factory. “Initially, we sent four fire tenders to the location. During the firefighting procedure, an LPG cylinder blast occurred, which even injured three of the firefighters. The injured firemen, after getting first aid, resumed their work. Since the flames were high after the blast, we sent more tenders,” said Atul Garg, director, Delhi Fire Services.
The fire began from the shoe factory and then spread to the adjacent factory where paper boxes were manufactured. Both the factories had highly combustible materials kept inside, which is why the fire spread quickly.
A search of both the factories revealed that no one was present inside. It took six hours, 30 fire tenders and 120 firefighters to douse the flames. Both the factories did not have firefighting equipment and had only one gate.
