Rajkot: Kids burnt to death as cabin catches fire
Updated: 2019–12–28
RAJKOT: A four-year-old boy and his seven-year-old sister were burnt to death in a fire that broke out in a watchman’s cabin at an apartment on Nana Mawa Road in Rajkot on Friday evening.
The victim were identified as Lakshman Chand and his sister Shrushti Chand. Both were children of Sagar Chand, who works as a watchman at Samarth Complex apartment.
“It is suspected that the fire was caused by a short circuit. When the fire broke out, the cabin’s doors were locked from outside, while the children were inside,” said an official from Rajkot fire brigade.
The victims were first taken to a private hospital where Lakshman succumbed to his injuries, then Shrushti was shifted to the burn ward of Rajkot Civil Hospital where she passed away on Friday night.
