Fire breaks out in secretariat building
Updated: 2020–01–01
DEHRADUN: A fire broke out in the room of the personal secretary of Additional Secretary (Law) at the secretariat building here on Tuesday. According to the fire department officials, the fire was presumably caused due to a short circuit which destroyed the stabiliser and central processing unit of the computer, some papers, and curtains in the room.
The fire brigade reached the spot in around half-an-hour after the secretariat staff found smoke coming out of Sanjay Kumar’s room. Kumar is the personal secretary of Sayan Singh Negi, Additional Secretary (Law). Fortunately, no human injury was reported in the incident.
“The flame was quickly doused by fire extinguishers. The staff also managed to save important files but the blaze caught the computer’s CPU,” said Diwakar Kumar, who works in fire brigade control room. He added that the exact cause of fire would be ascertained following proper investigation.
Earlier in February, 2019, a fire had broken out on the fourth floor of the state secretariat building where the chief minister’s office is situated.
