Minor fire breaks out in Sampatrao Colony, internet provider’s office gutted

VADODARA: An office of an internet service providing company at Sampatrao Colony was gutted on Tuesday morning after a short-circuit in the air-conditioner in the office on second floor sparked a fire which soon engulfed the office.
According to fire department sources, the security guard of the building noticed the smoke coming out of the window of the office and alerted the fire brigade.
The office was located on the second floor of the building in which the ground and first floors had residential homes. As the residents learnt about the fire, they quickly evacuated the building. “With no human presence in the building our work had become easy, but thick smoke inside the office made us struggle initially,” said fire officer Digvijaysinh Parmar. He added that the fire was completely doused within 30 minutes.
However, the electronic equipment including computers, LED television and air-conditioners were gutted. “Other office equipment including furniture was destroyed,” Parmar said. “The air-conditioners were probably switched off, but overload in the wiring may have caused the short-circuit,” he added.
