AYUTTHAYA: A sandal factory in Sena district was burned down by a fire on Wednesday morning.
Prateep Boriboonrat, chief of the Ayutthaya disaster prevention and mitigation office, said the fire broke out about 3.30am at a sandal factory at Moo 2 village in tambon Ban Luang.
About 10 fire engines and crews arrived to fight the blaze, but the factory was already engulfed in flames fuelled by inflammable materials such as rubber and glue used in the manufacture of sandals.
By the time the fire was brought under control about two hours later almost the entire factory was destroyed. No injuries were reported.
An investigation was underway into the cause of the fire. The damage was being assessed.
