UP: Fire breaks out at BSNL godown

VARANASI: Property worth lakhs gutted in a major fire at BSNL godown in Jaunpur district on Monday.
As many as seven fire tenders including two from Varanasi were engaged to control the fire. It took around six hours to douse the flames. Fortunately, no casualty was reported in the incident.
According to reports, fire broke out in the godown located in Ishapur locality at around 3am. Initially, the guard tried to extinguish the fire, but it soon spread and engulfed the entire godown. Meanwhile, local residents gathered at the site and also informed the police and fire brigade.
Jaunpur district magistrate Dinesh Kumar and other senior officials also reached there. The BSNL authorities are assessing the loss caused by the fire. Bundles of cables and other goods were stored in the godown. Short-circuit is suspected to have caused the fire.
