Tamil Nadu: Couple die after woman sets herself on fire

CHENNAI: A couple died on Saturday night after a woman allegedly set herself on fire over a domestic dispute. The man was trying to rescue her. Both sustained 90% burn injuries, said police.
Initially, police believed that the fire could have spread from a mosquito coil after the couple’s children told them that they saw their parents on fire. But after questioning a neighbour, police found out that the woman had poured kerosene and set herself on fire.
Police said, Shanthi, 32, was married to Ilango, 36, with two children.
On Saturday, hearing the two scream, neighbours rushed to their house. They took them to the hospital where doctors declared them “brought dead”.
