Updated: 20200229

AMBALA: A scientific instrument factory on Hargulal Road in Kacha Bazaar area of Ambala Sadar Municipal Council jurisdiction has been gutted entirely in a fire incident during the wee hours on Saturday.

As per the officials of the fire department, the cause of the fire is yet unknown.

Sources told the factory is near the residential area, and at around 3.20am, some residents and an on-duty security guard noticed flames coming out of the building. They called the factory owner Ravi Jain of Ambala and the fire brigades which reached the spot and started to douse the flames.

Haryana home, urban local bodies and health minister Anil Vij also inspected the fire spot in the morning and took the information from the factory owners.

Some neighbours of the factory told, “Soon after some time of the fire incident, we heard a loud blast and the fire spread in the entire factory in no time. Due to plastic items and chemicals kept in the factory, the fire broke out and the entire unit has been also burnt to ashes on both the floors. The fire also caused cracks in the houses on the rear side of the factory due to which their occupants came out at night.”

Local people said at the time when the fire was on, the high flames of the fire were visible from a distance. The fire was so catastrophic that even fire brigade employees were facing a lot of trouble while spraying water.

The power supply of this area was also stopped at night. Other factory owners also reached the spot to prevent the fire from spreading fast and reaching their unit premises.

Sources told, the factory which is gutted in the fire made scientific instruments and it employs dozens of persons and most of the goods made here are exported abroad.

At the same time, the factory owners Ravi Jain said, “Goods worth lakhs of rupees were kept in the factory and we have suffered a total loss.”

Ambala Cantonment fire officer Mohinder Singh said, “A total of 7 fire brigades were deployed to douse the flames at this factory. Six fire brigades were sent from Ambala Cantonment and City fire stations and one from the Ambala Air Force station. No one has received injury in this incident as the factory was close at the time of fire incident. The entire fire controlling operation continued for around 7 hours up to 10am in the morning.”
