Fire breaks out at plastic factory in Noida

NOIDA: plastic moulding factory at Hosiery Complex in Phase-2 was charred in a fire on Saturday. According to sources, the company, Suri Profiles, which manufactures plastic photo frames, was covered in smoke, minutes after it triggered sparks reportedly due to short circuit.
Fifteen fire tenders took an hour to douse the flames.
According to fire safety officials, the incident occurred around 2.30pm possibly due to a short circuit and spread quickly as of a lot of wooden and plastic raw material were stored in the building.
“As many as 15 fire tenders had reached the spot to control the fire which had started reaching to the adjacent buildings. It was doused after an hour and we also had to block the traffic movement on the road,” said Arun Kumar, fire safety officer, Gautam Budh Nagar. Kumar added that a panic was triggered among the 50-60 workers who were inside the company at the time of the fire. “While most of them were evacuated from the premise on time, a few suffered injuries. Among them, one person had fainted due to the smoke and the police team present at the spot immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital along with others,” he said.
Meanwhile, Harish Chander, DCP (Central Noida) told TOI that the factory’s owner has not filed any complaint of foul play in the matter. “The damage is huge since most of the stuff got charred in fire,” he said.
