KRISHNAGIRI: Two people suffered injuries and five shops, eight motorcycles and two autorickshaws were gutted after a truck carrying gas caught fire at Alasanatham near Hosur in Tamil Nadu on Thursday morning.
The truck was going to Hosur from Alasanatham. Gas started leaking from a 450kg cylinder after the truck crossed a speed breaker and the truck caught fire, according to a police officer in Hosur division.
The driver, whose identity was not known, parked the truck on the roadside and escaped. The fire started spreading to nearby areas due to heavy wind, gutting five shops and vehicles parked in front them. Two people, including a woman, suffered burns.
Fire and rescue services personnel from Hosur rushed to the spot and doused the flames in two hours. The Hosur town police registered a case.
