Yeti Resort inferno destroys property worth millions

SOLUKHUMBU: An inferno engulfed the building of Yeti Mountain Resort, located at Fakding of Solukhumbu, reducing property worth more than Rs 3 million into ashes.
According to SI Krishna Basnet, most of the goods in the resort building, one of the major tourism hubs of the district, were destroyed in the fire. The fire broke out at 8:00 am and could be brought under control only in the afternoon. Five police personnel from Area Police Office, Lukla and seven airport security personnel were airlifted to Fakding in order to assist in fighting the fire. Nepali Army personnel from Sagarmatha National Park also helped douse the fire. The resort was in operation under Thamserku Trekking. According to SI Basnet, the fire had started from the kitchen and went out of control as the LPG cylinders exploded. However, no human casualty was reported in the incident.
