Shoe Factory Lose Millions Of Ringgit Due To Fire
Updated: 2013-07-25-17:01
NIBONG TEBAL, July 25 (Bernama) — A shoe factory at Jalan Kilang lost millions of ringgit when it caught fire last evening.
State Fire and Rescue Department director Azmi Tamat said the department received an emergency call at 5.01pm, and a team of fire fighters arrived at the scene 10 minutes later.
“Six machinery with 24 officers and fire fighters were involved in the operation, together with 130 volunteer fire fighters to put out the fire.
“We managed to control the fire about an hour later but efforts to put out the fire completely were still being carried out until this morning as most of the items in the factory were made of rubber.
“We also had difficulty to extinguish the fire because of water shortage and the distant location of the fire hydrant,” he said when contacted here, today.
No casualties were reported although all 35 employees were working during the incident.
