Fire razes 250 shanties, damages school in Pasay

(Updated 3:54 p.m.) – More than 200 families lost their homes after a fire of undetermined origin razed at least 250 shanties and damaged a school in Pasay City Wednesday afternoon.
No one was initially reported injured in the fire, which reached Task Force Bravo as of 2:35 p.m., radio dzBB reported.
Razed were houses in Barangay Apelo Cruz in the city’s Malibay district.
An update by dzBB’s Rodil Vega said the razed shanties were made of light materials.
The shanties were located in three barangays: 157 in Zone 16, and Barangays 162 and 163.
Pasay City fire marshal Chief Inspector Douglas Guiyab said their initial investigation showed the fire started at the house of one Nimfa Renon.
But he said they are still investigating the circumstances that led to the fire.
Also, at least 20 classrooms in three buildings of the Apelo Cruz Elementary School were damaged.
The dzBB report said the fire razed the computer room and library of the Apelo Cruz Elementary School in Malibay.
