Quezon City fire displaces 150 families
Updated: 2013-08-18-18:16
At least 150 families were affected in a fire that razed a residential area in Quezon City early Saturday morning.
Quezon City fire marshal Superintendent Jesus Fernandez said the fire destroyed some 75 houses along Don Pepe Street in Barangay Santo Domingo, radio dzBB reported.
No one was initially reported injured in the fire, which started at 7:32 a.m. and reached the fifth alarm before it was placed under control at 8:42 a.m.
Initial investigation showed the fire started at the house of one Agustin Espino, who reportedly saw sparks from an electrical wire.
Arson investigators are determining the extent of damage to property caused by the fire.
However, a separate report on “24 Oras” quoted Fernandez as saying an electrical overload may have caused the fire. — LBG, GMA News
