An electrical short-circuit was believed to have caused a fire at a furniture workshop in Tambakharjo, West Semarang district in Semarang, Central Java, on Friday evening.
There were no fatalities although the fire consumed two trucks, machines and dozens of chairs.
Workshop owner, Tukibi alias Bowo, 32, managed to rescue his two daughters who were still in the house-cum-workshop.
Tukibi was visiting his neighbors on the second day of Idul Fitri when the fire started. His wife, Jumaini, 31, was stunned to see fire emanating from their home.
The concerned father rushed back to the house to rescue Nurul Hanifah, 12, and Kamelia Labiba, 4, who were watching television in the living room.
The Semarang City Fire Department managed to stop the fire from spreading to the neighboring buildings but the house was razed to the ground.
Agency data shows that there have been 96 fires in the city.
