Property worth crores gutted in Myanglung blaze

MYANGLUNG: Fire victims of Myanglung, Terhathum have been facing hardship for want of shelter and food after the entire settlement was gutted in a blaze yesterday.
The blaze broke out from a leaking LPG cylinder at a house in Tundikhel of Myanglung yesterday.
Two houses belonging to Dil Bahadur Tamang and Kalpana Khadka were reduced to ashes. Twenty three members of one dozen families have been displaced and are taking shelter in different places. Three houses belonging to Chandra Bahadur Bista, Yubraj Khanal and Dik Bahadur Karki had to be pulled down to bring the fire into control.
Three families have been sheltering at the local Balmandir Primary School. The victims said they are facing a hard time as they do not have any cooking utensils, clothes and other basic items left. “We lost everything,” said Dil Bahadur Tamang, adding, “We don’t have food, utensils, clothes and other items.
Some of the victims are sheltering with their kin.
Property worth over Rs 11 crore was destroyed, said police. Meanwhile, District Disaster Rescue Committee gave Rs 5,000 to Tamang and Khadka’s family as relief package while Rs 3,000 each was given to victims staying in rented houses. Nepal Red Cross Society distributed tents, utensils and clothes to the victims.
